According to [Everyday Health](https://www.everydayhealth.com/flu/guide/how-long-does-the-flu-last/) the Flu lasts typically one to two weeks. The most severe symptoms such as fever, chills and muscle aches start in the beginning.

This is usually followed by a headache, sore throat, runny nose and cough.

Fatigue and congestions can last for weeks.

A person infected with the Flu can be contagious at least one day before symptoms occur and last a week into the virus.

Getting a Flu shot is very important, especially for young children and adults over 60. If you do get the Flu, although it is a virus, your doctor can help you alleviate your symptoms and track potential complications.
