One of the many benefits that gets people excited about concierge medicine is doctor accessibility.
Having a doctor's cell phone and email address almost sounds too good to be true, but in concierge medicine it's a reality. In fact, concierge MDs want to hear from their patients in between visits, for a variety of reasons:
- They want to answer questions you might have forgotten to ask.
- They want to clarify anything you didn't understand. Remember, you take in A LOT of info during doctor visits. It can be overwhelming and challenging to process everything at once.
- They want to be there for you when you need them, not when the office is "open." Illnesses don't keep a 9-5, Monday through Friday schedule, which is why your concierge MD will encourage you to call, text, or email during the night or on weekends, as needed.
- They want to cheer you on as you make progress. Your doctor is part of your wellness journey, which means he or she wants to know when things are working well or when you reach a milestone. Celebrating good health is a good thing, right?
Luckily, thanks to technology, communicating with your concierge MD is quite easy: they're only a screen swipe or mouse click away. That said, you might have concerns about sending and receiving sensitive data over the wire. We do as well. Patient confidentiality is of the utmost importance—always.
