# What Are The Risk Reduction Strategies For Breast Cancer?

You can't change some factors, such as getting older or your family history, but you can help lower your risk of breast cancer by taking care of your health in the following ways:

1. Maintain a healthy weight: Being overweight or obese can increase the risk of breast cancer.
2. Exercise regularly: Physical activity can help to reduce the risk of breast cancer and improve overall health.
3. Limit alcohol consumption: Drinking alcohol can increase the risk of breast cancer.
4. Eat a healthy diet: A diet that is high in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains and low in processed foods, red meat, and sugar may help reduce the risk of breast cancer.
5. Limit hormone therapy: Hormone therapy, particularly long-term use of hormone replacement therapy (HRT), can increase the risk of breast cancer.
6. Breastfeed: Breastfeeding has been associated with a reduced risk of breast cancer.
7. Avoid tobacco: Smoking and the use of other tobacco products increase the risk of many types of cancer, including breast cancer.
8. Avoid radiation exposure: Unnecessary exposure to radiation, such as from X-rays, can increase the risk of breast cancer.

It's important to note that these are suggestions and not guarantees, it's always good to consult with a healthcare professional to create a personalized plan.
